Energy costs represent 97% of the lifecycle costs of a motor – purchase and installation only represent 3%. Our motors fit into every drive concept and worldwide address more than 90% of all of the conceivable applications.
For Europe EU efficiency classes EFF1 and EFF2 apply; in North America the EPACT certification CC 032A and optionally CSA-E apply.

Motors must fulfill the highest safety standards when used in hazardous zones such as in the chemical and petrochemical industries or in gas plants. This is mandatory in order to protect man, machine and the environment. Our rugged EEx motors operate reliably even under the most extreme of conditions with a very long lifetime.
All Siemens explosion-protected motors have been tested by the Physikalisch-Technischen Bundesanstalt (PTB) or by the Deutschen Montan Technologie GmbH (DMT).
- Explosion-protected motors:
    - Type of protection “increased safety” – “e“ (EEx e II)
    - Flameproof enclosure – “d” (EEx de IIC)
    - Non-sparking – “n” (EEx nA, Ex nA)
    - Dust-explosion protection
- Fulfill the requirements of the following safety Standards: BS5000, CE, UL, CSA
- Degree of protection up to IP65 is possible.
